In recent years, coherent passive optical network technology has received termendous attention in the industry. Among the reported schemes, the simplified coherent scheme based on heterodyne detection has become a widely investigated coherent passive optical network implementation structure due to its good trade-off between performance and cost compared to standard coherent schemes and intensity modulation and direct detection schemes. Currently, the signal bandwidth of 200-Gbps per lane based passive optical network systems based on the simplified coherent scheme are mostly 50-GHz. In order to further reduce signal bandwidth and achieve system cost reduction, this paper studies a polar coded truncated probabilistic shaping scheme, which achieves 200G PON transmission with C+ class power budget requirements only utilizing a signal bandwidth of 40-GHz. The experimental results show that in the case of optical back-to-back optical transmission, the scheme can achieve a power budget of 32-dB and still ensure a power budget of 29-dB after 20 km transmission, which could cover the N1 class power budget requirements.
