o study the chemical constituents of Carpesium faberi. The compounds wereseparated and purified by silica gel column chromatography, Rp-C18 column chromatography andpreparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and their structures were identifiedby physicochemical properties and spectral data. The results were as followsEleven monomercompounds were isolated from the extract of C. faberi whole grass ethyl acetate and identified as4,10 -di hy dro xy- 1 (H ),5 ( H)- guai - 11- (13 )- en- 8,1 2-o li de (1 ), vomi f ol io l ( 2),(R)-4-((2S,4S)-2,4-dihydroxy-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohexylidene)but-3-en-2-one (3), carpespene F(4),4-((1R,2S)-3,3-dimethyl-2-(3-oxobutyl)cyclobutyl)pent-4-en-1-yl acetate (5), carpespene I (6), 4,10-Dihydroxy-5(H)-1,11(13)-guaidien-8,12-olide (7), luteolin (8), (+)-syringaresinol-O--D-glucopyranoside (9), 2-Methoxy-4-(2-propenyl)-phenyl--D-glucopyranoside (10), kaempferol3-O--D-glucopyranoside (11). Compound 5 was a new compound, compounds 1, 4, 6 and 7 wereguaiane-type sesquiterpenoids, and compounds 9 and 11 were isolated from this plant for the firsttime. The research results provide a theoretical basis for the chemical composition of C. faberi.
