his article reviews the progress of hydrogels and photodynamic therapy in the field of biomedicine. Hydrogels have evolved from simple to intelligent and multifunctional. Stimuli-responsive and composite hydrogels have emerged continuously and are widely used in drug delivery, tissue engineering and other aspects. They can achieve precise drug release and promote tissue repair. Photodynamic therapy, with its advantages of minimal invasiveness and low drug resistance, has made significant progress in cancer treatment. Currently, the organic combination of hydrogels and photodynamic therapy to develop intelligent and efficient treatment systems provides a new approach for disease treatment, and it is expected to further expand the applications of the two in the field of biomedicine.
