Syntactic Alignment in Mandarin-Speaking Children with Autism: Evidence from Ba and Bei Constructions

本研究以4~8岁普通话孤独症儿童与典型发展儿童为被试,采用看图说话任务,操纵句法结构(主动句、“把”字句、“被”字句)和动补结构(动结式、动趋式)两个自变量,考察句法难度对句法对齐表现的影响。结果显示:(1)两组儿童“把”字句条件下的句法对齐表现相同,“被”字句条件下的证据不充分;(2)句法难度显著制约对齐效应,两组儿童均在“把”字句条件下表现出更好的对齐表现;(3)“被”字句对齐条件下,儿童倾向使用“把”字句进行替代性的“对齐”,表明其具备意图识别能力。本研究表明普通话孤独症儿童的句法对齐能力整体完好,但句法难度制约儿童的对齐表现。本研究为完善互动对齐模型以及深入理解孤独症群体的会话障碍提供了新的角度。
Abstract
This study investigated syntactic alignment in 48-year-old Mandarin-speaking children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and typically developing (TD) children using a picture-description task. Two independent variables, syntactic structure (active, ba-construction, bei-construction) and verb-complement structure (resultative, directional), were manipulated to examine how syntactic difficulty affect alignment performance. Results showed that: (1) children with ASD exhibited largely intact syntactic alignment in the ba-construction, while evidence for alignment in the bei-construction condition was insufficient; (2) syntactic difficulty significantly constrained alignment, with both groups showing better alignment in the less complex ba-construction condition; and (3) in the bei-construction alignment condition, children tended to produce the ba-construction as a substitutive form substitute, indicating preserved intention recognition. These findings suggest that Mandarin-speaking children with ASD have relatively preserved syntactic alignment abilities, which are nonetheless modulated by syntactic difficulty. This study provides new insights into the interactive alignment model and deepens our understanding of conversational impairments in ASD.关键词
