On the Creative Transformation and Modern Reconstruction of National Music Language — — Focusing on the Creative Practice of Qilian Mountain Music and Painting and Block the Horse
When the morning mist of Qilian Mountain drifts across the string section, when the theatrical gestures on the opera stage transform into the brass's cry—two works, one sonic adventure spanning regions and traditions. This paper takes composer Kang He's creative practice as an entry point, listening to how Yugur folk songs breathe, transform, and are reborn within the symphonic texture in the fourth movement of Musical Paintings of Qilian Mountain; tracking how the spirit of opera breaks free from the boundaries of specific genres and gallops across the orchestral wilderness in Blocking the Horse.
How are the barriers of local style broken? How do ancient tones awaken within modern harmony? This paper follows three hidden paths traced by the composer—the breakthrough of style, the rebirth of tone, the dialogue of techniques. Those seemingly cold technical terms: gene extraction, grafting hybridization, pan-stylization, motivic penetration, elastic tonal wandering, local atonal deconstruction... are in fact the warm shaping clay in the composer's hands, the traces of sound's repeated negotiation between rationality and intuition.
The research shows: when the Yugur's terminal cadence is disassembled into growable motivic cells, when the Qin opera's bitter-tone slow board is condensed into an emotional explosion point—national music does not become speechless in the modernization process, but instead gains a broader space of expression. This is not a departure from tradition, but a deep gaze and reconstruction: cultural identity as roots, deeply planted in symphonic soil; modern techniques as wings, lifting it across regional boundaries. This paper aims to leave a witness for this creative practice, one that combines warmth with speculative thought.
