HIAF iLinac
Design and Operational Validation of the HIAF iLinac Event Timing Trigger System
Abstract
A multimode event timing trigger system based on White Rabbit was developed for the injection linear accelerator (iLinac) of the High Intensity Heavy-ion Accelerator Facility (HIAF) to accommodate different event sources and output permission conditions during BRing injection, beam delivery to T31, and linac beam tuning. The system employs a three-level architecture and represents the timing information of all three modes using a common target trigger time. Device-side FPGAs perform permission checking and channel scheduling, enabling one-click mode switching and independent adjustment of channel delays and pulse widths. In on-site tests, the standard deviations of the Chopper output period were 400.06 ns at 1 Hz and 62.645 ns at 5 Hz. The oscilloscope accumulated 44136 valid time interval error (TIE) samples, with a standard deviation of 90.649 ps. The measured LLRF delay relative to Chopper and its pulse width responded consistently to their settings. When the T31 permit was active, the permit-monitoring signal and Chopper output showed cycle-by-cycle correspondence. These results demonstrate node output timing stability on the hundred-picosecond scale under the tested conditions. The system has been deployed for HIAF iLinac operation and has passed engineering acceptance.关键词
