摘要

The origin of the excess gravitational effects attributed to dark matter remains an outstanding problem in astrophysics. We propose a baryon-based framework in which long-range coherent magnetic fluctuations (LCMF) between cold interstellar clouds are amplified by Hebbian-like self-reinforcing coupling mediated by Alfv\'en-wave, generating an additional effective gravitational potential. The model reproduces the Milky Way’s approximately flat rotation curve out to 30 kpc and yields an equivalent dark matter density profile with a nearly constant-density core. It also offers a qualitative explanation for the separation between lensing-inferred mass and hot X-ray-emitting gas in the Bullet Cluster: the scarcity of cold clouds in the hot intracluster medium inhibits LCMF formation, suppressing its additional gravitational contribution. We also qualitatively discuss the implications of this framework for other galactic-scale phenomena, including the Dwarf galaxy clustering, the baryonic Tully--Fisher relation and the too-big-to-fail problem. The model predicts kpc-scale coherent magnetic structures in the Milky Way, testable through radio polarimetry.

Abstract

The origin of the excess gravitational effects attributed to dark matter remains an outstanding problem in astrophysics. We propose a baryon-based framework in which long-range coherent magnetic fluctuations (LCMF) between cold interstellar clouds are amplified by Hebbian-like self-reinforcing coupling mediated by Alfv\'en-wave, generating an additional effective gravitational potential. The model reproduces the Milky Ways approximately flat rotation curve out to 30 kpc and yields an equivalent dark matter density profile with a nearly constant-density core. The fitted coherence timescale of approximately 300 Myr is comparable to the Galactic rotation period. In our model, the additional gravitational contribution follows the cold gas that sustains LCMF. It also offers a qualitative explanation for the separation between lensing-inferred mass and hot X-ray-emitting gas in the Bullet Cluster: the scarcity of cold clouds in the hot intracluster medium inhibits LCMF formation, suppressing its additional gravitational contribution. The model predicts kpc-scale coherent magnetic structures in the Milky Way, testable through radio polarimetry.
