Molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), which is a new binary transition-metal compound has attracted much attention because of its unique physical and chemical properties. Here the paper first reviews the different morphology structures of MoS2 including inorganic fullerene-like, sphere-like, flower-like, wire, plate, rod, tube and so on. The paper then discusses the methods used to prepare MoS2 nanomaterials, such as chemical vapor deposition method, sulfurization process, exfoliation, electrodeposition, hydrothermal method, and solvothermal method. Then the paper summarizes the application of MoS2 nanostructures in various fields such as lubrication, catalytic, and photoelectric devices. Finally, the paper gives a summary and outlook for the research of this molybdenum disulfide nanomaterial.
