The Angular Momentum of the Disk Galaxy
bstract: The angular momentum (AM) analysis on disk galaxies led to conflicting results and it had spread suspicions to other astronomical and physical objects. The work reports that the long standing AM problem might not be truly existed but caused by overlooking the internal consistency of the direction and the magnitude in the step to make the axial vector L0=r×v out of the polar vectors r and v. In the revised coordinate, it is found that the overall Milky Way galaxy has nearly equal internally consistent AM per unit mass (L0); moreover, its spiral structure is rφ=1 and rotation curve is vcir=L0/r, both are traced back to the L0 and well consistent with those of observations. One Sentence Summary: The Milky Way’s structure is rφ=1 and rotation curve is vcir=L0/r, both are traced back to the system’s AM per unit mass L0.
