he regulatory effects of microRNAs on the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells
MicroRNAs (MiRNAs) are a class of small endogenous non-coding RNAs which can negatively regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by inhibiting translation of target mRNAs or degrading target mRNAs. In the current study, lots of miRNAs have been recognized as important regulatory factors in the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and will definitely have a broad clinical application prospect. This paper summarized these proved miRNAs having positive or negative effects on the osteogenesis of MSCs. Meanwhile, the present status and perspectives of miRNA-target therapy were introduced as well.
