his paper studies the receptivity of T-S waves excited by the interaction between freestream acoustic disturbances and a local surface hump in 2-D subsonic boundary layers. Through direct numerical simulation, the T-S wave downstream of the hump is observed, which verifies the physics of receptivity process. It is found that, the receptivity coefficient is linearly related to the height of the hump when the latter is sufficiently small. The agreement between the results as obtained by direct numerical simulation and that obtained by triple-deck theory is quite good, and it is found that the receptivity coefficient attains its maximum value when the width of the hump is comparible with the wavelength of the T-S wave, implying a significant coupling effect exists.
