Hemiaminal ethers are considered to be an important heterocyclic compounds, which are common structural feature of numerous bioactive natural products and pharmaceutical molecules. A new metal-free amidation of ethers with N,N-dibromosulfonamides has been developed, In which N,N-dibromosulfonamides were used as the amine sources, potassium carbonate was used as the base and dichloromethane was used as the solvent. A series of hemiaminal ethers or imines were prepared with moderate to good yields. This process features an efficient protocol by using commercially available starting materials under mild metal-free conditions.
