Especially the fluoride produced in the metabolic process of inhalation anesthetics can change urinary output and solute excretion, even cause direct nephrotoxicity. And some anesthetics also can cause kidney injury by affecting circulatory system, sympathetic nervous system and endocrine system. It is important to know the mechanisms of kidney injury for the correct use of anesthetics and avoiding the side effects. This review mainly focuses on kidney injury caused by anesthetics, and summarizes related mechanisms.
