本文设计了一种新颖的蜂巢结构的高双折射太赫兹光纤。利用时域有限差分法研究了它的损耗和模式双折射特性,通过对计算结果的分析找到了最优化的设计方法。我们所设计的光纤在0.5THz的范围内同时拥有较大的模式双折射和较小的限制损耗,而且,与传统的实芯高双折射光纤相比,由于在纤芯中引入了多孔结构,能将大部分太赫兹波限制在空气孔中传输,所以能够有效降低基底材料引起的吸收损耗。对于太赫兹成像和传感器件的研究具有重要意义。

highly birefringent polymer terahertz (THz) fiber was proposed in this paper, which was formed with honeycomb cladding and some elliptical air holes in the fiber core. The losses and mode birefringence of the fiber is investigated by finite-different time-domain method. The results show that fiber can achieve both high birefringence and low confinement loss in a wide THz frequency range. Moreover, compared with a round solid-core fiber, guiding loss of the THz fiber caused by polymer material absorption can be reduced effectively as a part of the mode power is trapped in the air holes.
