城市人口密集度与碳排放之间的关系研究
Study on the Relationship between Urban Population Density and Carbon Dioxide Emissions
本文采用中国286个地级以上城市2002-2011年的面板数据,分析了城市人口密集度对年市内通勤、运输部门和整个城市体系产生的人均碳排放的影响。研究发现,人口密度较高的城市虽然在市内通勤和运输部门方面产生较少的人均碳排放,但就整个城市而言,其在人均碳排放方面并不具备优势。近年来的理论分析证明在一般均衡条件下人口密集型城市并不一定环保,我们的实证结果为上述理论提供了经验证据。因此,合理的城市化政策应该建立在对整个城市体系的分析上,否则可能会得出有偏误的政策建议。
his paper investigate the impact of urban population density on CO2 emissions through intra-city commuting, transport and entire urban system with a unique panel data of 286 Chinese prefectural and above level cities for the period 2002-2011. We find that higher urban population density produce less CO2 emissions through intra-city commuting and transport, but more CO2 emissions through the entire urban system. Our results provide empirical evidences for the theoretic argument that compact cities are not environmentally friendly in a general equilibrium framework. Therefore, the analyses that neglect the spatial organization of urban economic activities as a whole, may lead to biased policy implications.
