Research on the Current Limiting Property of a New Liquid Metal Current Limiter

液态金属限流器作为一种自复型限流器具有结构简单,无需控制装置和全封闭免维护等特点,研究基于自收缩效应的液态金属限流器具有一定的意义。本文采用实验方法研究了预期电流,通流孔孔径和孔的数量对与限流特性的影响。实验中通过单频LC回路进行放电模拟故障电流。实验结果表明预期电流的增加能够明显缩短弧前时间,同时能够有效地提高电弧电压。而减小通流孔的孔径也能够提高限流特性。在本实验中增加通流孔的数量对于弧前时间影响不大,但能够增加电弧电压。通过研究限流特性的影响因素,为进一步研究提供一定的依据。

In recent years a novel kind of liquid metal current limiter based on self-pinch effect was researched with its optimal and advantageous properties such as non-toxic, simple strcture, fast response, emission-free operation and a high number of short circuit interruptions. In this paper, the influences on the limiting property are researched from different factors such as prospective current, diameter of channels and their numbers. The experimental results indicate that the increasing prospective current and the smaller diameter of the channels could bring shorter pre-arcing time and higher arc voltage. Besides, the increase of the channels number hardly affect the pre-arcing time but could enhance the arc voltage partly. The research about the influence on the limiting property could guide the future design.
