传统的相对论里所有物理量都是实数,一种推广该理论的设想是引入虚数。本文以波导为例证明了只要承认发生隧道效应时某些物理量是虚的,那么相对论力学的公式体系依然适用,无需做任何改动。这个结果有助于纠正一种流行的观点即隧穿速度可以比真空光速c更快。事实上,隧穿速度应该是个虚数,拿它与实数光速c相比没有意义。超光速理论并不适合隧道效应的研究,因为由它导出的微波隧穿功率与已知的经验规律不符;用实数相对论力学也一样失败。只有引入虚量的相对论才能得出与实验相符的指数衰减规律。

Physical quantities of orthodox relativistic mechanics are all real and an idea to extend is to introduce imaginary. In this paper, we prove those formulations are still tenable in the tunneling effect provided some quantities are imaginary. The result is useful to reconsider the tunneling velocity which is thought to be real and faster than light [5],[6]. Actually, it is imaginary and superluminal theories are unfit for this case.
