本文为一种空中虚拟手写系统的智能交互设计了一套简单而高效的手指检测与手势系统。 通过融合深度数据以及手部物理模型,我们提出了一种双模式切换的手指检测算法。对于不同模式,根据关节角度和位置关系来判断两个模式并检测指尖位置。该方法可以解决手写过程中手部高自由度多姿态的问题,并且对人手误分割有着很好的鲁棒性。在空中手写系统中,相关手势被设计为类似于肢体语言,从而容易被掌握和使用。这一套形象的手势是专门为与虚拟手写系统之间的交互而使用,它们被映射为一个手写系统当中的指令,如"删除字符"和"选择候选字"等。对比于传统的手势识别实现方法,本文方法更加自然、易于使用;同时,它无需像传统方法那样需要对一个手势的起始位置和结束位预先做人为的分割标定;另外,这些手势也不会与手写系统中的书写轨迹相混淆造成误判。实验数据证明,本文提出的算法将指尖检测的准确率提升了5%以上,所有的手势达到了平均94.17%的识别率,表明所设计的手指检测与手势识别算法能够满足正常使用需求。

We proposed a virtual writing system called writing in the air system. Specifically, we introduce a new fingertip detection algorithm, and a set of simple but effective gestures and their recognition method for the intelligent input system. By integrating depth data and hand physical model, we propose a two-mode switching fingertip detection algorithm. The mode switch is determined by the finger-palm-arm position and angles and the fingertip position is detected accordingly. Additionally, hand gestures are similar to body language and easy to be understand and applied for the virtual writing system interaction. They are converted to commands like "delete" and "select". Compared with traditional gesture recognition methods, our method is more natural. Meanwhile, it does not have to segment the start and end point of gesture manually as the preprocessing step, and the motion of gesture will not be confused with the writing trajectory. Experiment results indicate that the fingertip detection rate improves more than 5% comparing with recent methods, and the average recognition rate of all hand gestures is 94.17%. Generally speaking, it can sufficiently meet the demand of daily use.
