Temporal Down Sampling Based Depth Maps Coding Method
在三维视频(3DV)系统中,深度图不是直接用于视觉上的享受,而是用于渲染虚拟视图。为了提高3DV系统编码效率,同时保持合成虚拟视图的质量,一种基于时间子采样的深度图编码方法被提出。在所提出的方法中,一个序列的深度图首先进行时间下采样和编码。然后,在解码器端,深度图序列中被丢弃的帧通过深度重建的方法插值得到。实验结果表明,在保持相同编码比特率的情况下,所提出的方法可以实现最大0.245分贝与平均0.075 分贝的BD PSNR增益。
In three-dimensional video(3DV) systems,depth maps are not used for visual enjoyment directly but for rendering virtual views.To improve the coding efficiency of 3DV systems while maintaining the qualities of synthesized virtual views, a temporal subsampling based coding method for depth maps is proposed. In the proposed method, a sequence of depth maps is first temporally down sampled and encoded. Then, at the decoder, the discarded frames in the depth map sequence are interpolated by a depth reconstructed method. Experimental results demonstrate that a maximum 0.245 dB and an average 0.075 dB BD PSNR gain could be achieved by the proposed method while maintaining the same coding bit rate.
