掺铒光纤上超短腔光纤激光器制作
Ultra-short distributed Bragg reflector fiber laser in erbium (Er3+) doped fiber
成功的在掺饵光纤上制作出超短腔分布布拉格反馈式光纤激光器。光纤激光器总长度只有8mm,输出信号的信噪比达50 dB。由于腔长极短,该激光器的纵模间隔与选模光栅带宽相差不多,因此该激光器可以稳定的运行于单纵模模式。该激光器产生两个正交的偏振模,二者耦合产生一个1.12 GHz的偏振拍频信号,其3-dB带宽只有10 kHz。掺饵增益光纤在泵浦波长980nm附近的峰值吸收是0.3 dB/cm。经实验测得包括激光器两端熔接焊点的损耗在内,单个超短腔DBR光纤激光器在980nm波长的传输损耗只有0.9dB。这将非常有利于光纤激光器传感器的组网和复用。
We present an ultra-short distributed Bragg reflector fiber laser fabricated in erbium doped fiber. The total length of the laser is only 8 mm. The optical signal-to-noise ratio of the laser output is 50 dB. Due to the ultra-short cavity length, the laser has longitude mode spacing comparable to the grating bandwidth and therefore operates in robust single longitude mode. The laser emits two orthogonal polarization modes, which generates a beat signal at 1.12 GHz with 3-dB bandwidth of ~ 10 kHz. The peak absorption of the erbium doped fiber is 0.3 dB/cm at 980 nm. Including the loss of two splice points, an ultra-short DBR fiber laser has transmission loss at 980 nm of only 0.9 dB. This will greatly benefit the laser sensor multiplexing.
