Some highlights on EEG-based Brain Computer Interface

脑电信号(EEG)是检测人体大脑神经活动的重要工具。脑机接口技术是建立在脑电信号基础之上的一种人体大脑与外界设备的新型通讯方式。本文阐述了脑机接口技术方面的部分最新研究成果。文章首先介绍了常用的脑机接口范式,然后对稳态运动视觉诱发电位和运动想象两种代表性脑机接口范式的工作原理进行分析;在此基础上,详细介绍了脑控智能轮椅和脑控电动小车导航两个脑机接口系统的硬件组成、控制策略及实验结果。作为一种控制外部设备的新技术,脑机接口在中风、脊髓损伤等中枢神经系统疾病的康复、小儿多动症的治疗以及新型脑控游戏的开发等领域具有广阔的应用前景。

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is an efficient tool in exploring human brains. It plays a very important role in development of new interaction techniques between machines and human beings, namely, brain-computer interfaces (BCI). The purpose of this review is to illustrate most recent researches in EEG-based brain computer interfaces. First, two BCI paradigms, including motor imagery and steady-state motion visual evoked potentials (SSMVEP) produced by oscillating Newton's rings are introduced. After that, BCI systems including wheelchair controlling and electronic car navigation are elaborated. As a new technique to control equipments, BCI has promising potentials in rehabilitation of disorders in central nervous system such as stroke and spinal cord injury, treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children, and development of novel games such as brain-controlled auto racings.
