N6-methyladenosine (m6A) methylation is the most prevalent and abundant type of RNA modification in eukaryotic cells. m6A methylation readers are a class of RNA-binding proteins that recognize and bind m6A methylation sites on target mRNAs. This review summarizes the latest research progress on the biological functions, regulatory mechanisms, and roles of m6A readers in gametogenesis, embryonic development and reproductive-related diseases.
