In this paper, detonation diffraction in T tube with hydrogen/oxygen/argon mixtures are numerically examined using an Euler equation with detailed finite-rate chemistry. The shock wave is detected using the fifth-order weighted essentially non-oscillatory scheme. When diffracting in T tube, the detonation wave is influenced by the corner rarefaction wave and decays into a reacting shock. There exists an induction zone between the decoupled shock and the reaction zone. Subsequently, the decoupled shock reflects irregularly from the top wall, in which a Mach stem with the manner of detonation wave propagates to the tube exit and a reflected wave propagates transversely in the induction zone above, that is , a transverse detonation wave. Through several reflections back and forth between the top and bottom walls, a steady detonation is finally re-established.
