s a common organoarsenic compound, roxarsone (ROX) is extensively used to control intestinal parasites, prevent dysentery, and promote animal growth as a feed additive. In this paper, a nitrogen-doped fluorescent carbon dots (N-CDs) method for rapid detection of ROX was developed. The blue fluorescent N-CDs with 8.31% quantum yield were prepared by the hydrothermal method using DL-malic acid and urea as precursors. Structural characterization of the N-CDs was conducted employing transmission electron microscopy, fourier infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results revealed that the N-CDs were uniformly dispersed in water with an average particle size of 2.22 nm, and the surface is rich in hydrophilic groups. In the range of ROX concentration from 0 to 80 μM, the method shows a good linearity with a detection limit of 211 nM.
