uring neurosurgery brain tissue deforms, causing navigation error of image-guided neurosurgery system (IGNS). In this paper, a wireless brain shift compensation system was implemented. In the system the exposed brain surface deformation was tracked by a three-dimensional laser scanner. The brain tissue deformation was predicted by a linear elastic model. The data was exchanged through wireless communication with IGNS. Brain shift correction software includes a visualization module, calibration module, brain tissue extraction module, mesh generation module, boundary conditions acquisition module, finite element calculation module, preoperative image update module and communication module. We used 5 pigs to test the system. Results of experiments show that the system can accurately compensate brain deformation error. It worked with IGNS to provide a brain-shift-compensation based guidance, improving the accuracy of the IGNS.
