Based on the international demand for clean energy and the development of new power, mobile microreactors have become a hot frontier topic at home and abroad. Mobile microreactors have widespread application prospects and are combined in military and commercial fields. First, the definition and types of mobile microreactors were clarified; The development history and research status of mobile microreactors in foreign countries, including the United States, Russia, Japan, and the United Kingdom, and in China were explained respectively; Then the requirements and characteristics of development on the mobile microreactors in China were expounded; Finally the development approaches and prospects were proposed, mainly including: low fuel concentration, design of unique passive safety systems, research and development of proprietary calculating software, improvement of the safety review system for mobile microreactors, and design-specific experimental verification, etc.
