高管团队海外背景对企业创新绩效的影响

现有研究对高管团队海外背景的认识大多局限于总量层面,而对高管团队海外背景的结构特征研究不足。本文基于高阶梯队理论,在考虑高管团队海外背景总量特征的基础上,考察了CEO海外背景和高管团队海外背景来源等结构特征,以中国医药制造行业A股上市公司2005-2012年的813个样本作为研究对象,实证分析了高管团队海外背景对企业创新绩效的影响。研究结果表明,高管团队中拥有海外背景的高管所占比例越高,企业的创新绩效越高;同时,企业的CEO拥有海外背景,高管团队海外背景来源多样性程度越高,企业的创新绩效也越高。

espite the focus on quantitative assessments of the overseas background of top management team (TMT), little is known about the configuration of the overseas background. This study draws on upper echelons theory to investigate the impact of both the quantitative feature and configuration of TMT overseas background on innovation performance. Based on the panel data from 2005-2012 of Chinese A-share listed companies in pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, we find that the presence of TMT with overseas background positively affects firm innovation performance. Moreover, the overseas experience of CEO shows a significant positive impact on the innovation performance, and the diversity of TMT overseas background sources also positively relates to the enhancement of innovation performance.
