he prefilter is an important component of EDGE communication system’s receiver. This paper gives a detailed description on the rise and mechanism of the prefilter. Fast solution algorithm for the prefilter tap coefficients under channel estimation with arbitrary complex value is given. Equalization simulations with prefilter and without prefilter are also conducted. As is shown in the simulation result, in an environment whose multi-path dispersion is relatively long enough (just as the HT environment), a prefilter is indispensable.
