Large Scale Terrain Rendering Algorithm Based on View –Dependant and Multi-resolution

本文对已有的地形可视化算法进行了研究和改进,在进行数据的预处理时,重新定义了四叉树节点的结构,引入了节点的哈夫曼编码;在对叶子节点进行判定时,根据四叉树结点中的最大结点误差,视点距离和视线的角度进行判断;进行裂缝消除时,根据经过哈夫曼编码之后的节点关系,可以方便地进行裂缝消除。实验结果表明,算法运行结果良好,在普通微机上即可达到较高的帧速率和较好的绘制效果,基本满足实时要求。

he paper researches the former terrain visualization algorithms. Then the author improves the existing algorithm: the author redefines the structure of the Quad tree node during the data’s pretreatment. And then introduces the Huffman code of the node. Depending on the largest node’s error among all the Quad tree nodes, the view distance and the angle of view, we judge the needed data. And using the relation among the node coded by Huffman Code, we can easily eliminate the cracks. The result indicates: the algorithm run well. The frame velocity of the algorithm basically satisfies the request of real-time.
