MMB系统中HS-LDPC编码的实现

LDPC码是当前最接近香农限的信道编码算法,其纠错能力接近并有可能超越Turbo码。LDPC码的优越性能使其非常适合大量数据的广播系统应用。CMMB是我国自主研发的第一套向手机、PDA等小屏幕便携手持终端提供广播电视服务的系统,其中就采用了性能优异的LDPC信道编码和OFDM调制技术,这使其具有极高的抗干扰能力。CMMB中的LDPC码是一种高度结构化的LDPC码(HS-LDPC)。HS-LDPC码在解码时的运算量较小,这有利于延长手机电池寿命,然而其编码运算量相对较大。本文提出了一种对CMMB中HS-LDPC码的校验矩阵H进行LU分解从而实现HS-LDPC的实时快速编码的算法。本文最后给出了在普通微型计算机上该HS-LDPC编码算法的运行效率,证明该算法能够实时完成HS-LDPC编码。
Low density parity-check (LDPC) code is, currently, one kind of sparse parity-check matrix based linear block error-correcting codes which could highly approach the Shannon limit with iterative decoding. LDPC codes’ superior performance, which may surpass Turbo code, makes it suitable for transmitting large amount of data in multimedia broadcasting system. CMMB is the first multimedia broadcasting system in China that is targeted at handheld devices with small screens, such as mobile phones and PDA. For its superior performance, CMMB uses LDPC as its channel coding. Moreover, CMMB adopts OFDM as its means of transmission, which make it more resistant to interference. The kind of LDPC code in CMMB is a high-structured LDCP code (HS-LDPC). Relatively small amount of computing is involved for HS-LDPC decoding in mobile terminals, which is beneficial for the life span of the batteries in the terminals. However, the encoding of HS-LDPC codes requires a comparatively demanding amount of computing. This paper provides an algorithm that is based on the LU decomposition of the parity check matrix H of the HS-LDPC codes. This real-time algorithm is very efficient and is implemented and run in common micro-computers. The performance of this algorithm is shown in the final part of this paper.
