Eocene sedimentary evolution of Fushun Basin shows the features of Lacustrine bog – meare - semideep lake - deep lake- semideep lake -meare subfacies. Element geochemical characteristic of sediments is a response to water environment of sedimentary basin. V/V+Ni ratio shows Eocene basin deposits in anaerobic environment; Ni/Co, Ni/V, Cu/Zn ratio indicate that during the early stage of Jijuntun Formation, the environment of this basin is meare with low reducibility, and it turns to semideep lake-deep lake with high reducibility; Sr/Ba ratio shows that the basin during the sedimentary period of Guchengzi and Jijuntun Formation has the feature of fresh lake, but during the sedimentary period of Xilutian Formation, the basin shows the feature of salt-brackish lake. Sedimentary environment plays an important control action on the distribution and the types of organic matter of oil shale, the type of organic matter is sapropel and humosapropelic kerogen; the sedimentary environment of semi-deep and deep lake controls the plane distribution of oil shale, the frequency of Lake Invasion controls the numbers of oil shale beds, then further affects the vertical distribution of oil shale.
