here are growing concerns on the sustainable management of grassland plant resources in Northeast China because of the increasing area of unreasonably grazed grasslands and the increasing number of rare and endangered plants. To solve the issues of huge data of plant resources with multiple formats and difficulty in sharing, we designed and developed a WebGIS-based plant information system for grasslands of Northeast China using structure of B/S and Java language. The system consists of five modules, i.e., attribute query, data analysis, thematic application, system management, and update and maintenance. The environment of platform development is MyEclipse2014 under the operating system of Windows 7.It runs highly efficiently supported by the front-end development and the data-base techniques, and can provide thematic map services through the ArcServer supported by the WebGIS technique and the powerful spatial data service.
