宽川铺生物群中球状胚胎化石表面刺状结构研究

寒武纪纽芬兰世梅树村期宽川铺生物群处在寒武纪早期,其中产出的动物卵和胚胎化石为我们研究后生动物的个体发育提供了独一无二的窗口。然而,球状胚胎化石数量巨大,大小形态各异,绝大多数缺乏与成体化石可对比的结构,这为判断胚胎化石属性造成了巨大困难。本文以宽川铺生物群中获取的大量立体保存的胚胎化石为研究材料,对胚胎化石表面超微结构和内部解剖结构进行观察并对比分析。结果显示,大部分胚胎化石表面被一单层光滑卵膜结构所包裹,卵膜之下胚胎形态多样;刺状结构位于卵膜之下,为胚胎分泌形成的保护层,出现在不同大小和不同类型的胚胎中,发育到一定阶段,胚胎会褪去刺状结构。研究结果表明:1)表面结构并不能作为胚胎的分类依据;2)与现生海葵胚胎表面微绒毛相似,Olivooides表面刺状结构可能具有保护胚胎和生态扩散的功能;3)带刺胚胎Olivooides很可能代表了动物演化早期最简单的幼虫形式,是动物间接发育的证据。要追溯直接发育和间接发育的起源等相关问题,还应从更古老的地层中去找寻答案。

Fossil eggs and embryos from the Lower Cambrian Kuanchuanpu Member of the Dengying Formation at Ningqiang in southern China provide a unique window for investigating the ontogeny of metazoans. However, these eggs and embryos are very different in size and most of them lack comparable structures with adult, which make it hard to determine affinity of them. Embryos are preserved in 3D as phosphatized permineralizations with superficial structures, and interior anatomy revealed in partly decayed embryos. Different species share a similar naked egg membrane and stellate cuticle which indicate that: 1)It is improper to judge affinity by size or superficial structure of embryos; 2)It is postulated that the stellate cuticle would provide physical protection and dispersal to suitable habitat. Such properties were also observed in extant sea anemone embryos; 3)The stellate Olivooides may represent the primitive larva, which could be the evidence of indirect development. Therefore, to trace the origin of the direct and indirect development patterns, people should find the answer in much older strata.
