Electroacupuncture is an effective method of inflammatory pain treatment without any side effects, but its mechanism is unclear. This paper investigate the immunological mechanism of electroacupuncture treating inflammatory pain, from the perspective of expression and activation of NLRP3 inflamasome. Results from animal behavior, Western blot and spectrophotometry detection experiments showed that compared with inflammation group, electroacupuncture significantly improved the mechanical hyperalgesia and thermal pain caused by allergic inflammation of rats, reduced the activity of Caspase-1, and significantly inhibited the expression and activation of NLRP3, as well as the expression of cleaved Caspase-1and IL-1β. Our Studies showed that electroacupuncture relieved inflammatory pain by inhibiting the expression and activation of NLRP3 inflammasome.
