MAO play an important role in the development and function of brain, many of Monoamine oxidase inhibitors have therapeutic value in several common neurodegenerative conditions. This paper summarizes the characteristics of MAO and the application status of MAO inhibitors, emphasizes the physiological importance of MAO and the potential of their inhibitors,forecasts the future prospects of the MAO inhibitors wide range of applications.
