nalysis of Prevalence and Risk Factors of Hypertension Among Uygurs in HeTian of XinJiang
We aimed to provide up-to-date estimates of the prevalence and risk factors of hypertension in Uygur adults in Tushala township,Hetian, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.Cross-sectional study of Hypertension risk factors of the general adults was conducted in Tushala ,28 surrounding villages using a stratified random sampling method. Physical and body parameters were collected and were uesd to analysis of variance. In addition, risk factors for hypertension were screened using a multifactor logistic regression analysis. The prevalence of the hypertension in Hetian was 25.6%. The incidence of hypertension was positively correlated to age and fasting blood glucose (FBG). There was also a positive correlation among blood pressure, age, body mass index (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), abdominal circumference (AC), triglyceride cholesterol(TG), high density lipoprotein (HDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL)and body fat (p < 0.05). Assessment of life style and environment indicated that consumption of roasted and smoked food was significantly different between individuals with hypertension and normotension. Logistic regression analysis showed that BMI and cholesterol were the predominant risk factors for hypertension. In conclusion, our results indicate.that high caloric food intake triggers hyperlipidemia and subsequently elevated blood pressure with BMI and cholesterol being the major risk factors for hypertension.
