How to get helpful information from infinite, continuous and real-time data stream has been a hot research field of data stream. This paper introduces the background, significance and research status of the top-k query and skyline query technology. It highlights the latest research directions, algorithms with the top-k and skyline combined together. It also analies the related fields about the sequence-sensitive query technology and the latest research，and it discusses the research direction in this field.
