long with the development of the informatics, a practical and safe VPN (Virtual Private Network) with high efficiency is playing a role more and more important for a government affairs informatics system and is becoming urgent. A VPN based government affairs informatics system includes: the analysis of the need of VPN, the general design according to the scope of the need, the choosing of a reliable technical blue print, the setting up to realize the project, the operation and the maintenance of the VPN. Via a case of setting up a VPN in the government affaires informatics system, this article aims to describe the role of a installed VPN for its importance, its urgency and its practical function; meanwhile, along with the setting up process of a VPN, this article tries to research for economic, reliable, practical and efficient methods for the sake of the informatics safety, to promote the government affairs informatics system for a stable & healthy development.
