La2O3-doped (Bi0.5Na0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 (abbreviated as BNBT6) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics was synthesized by conventional solid-state processes. The effect of La2O3 on the microstructure, dielectric properties, high-temperature impedances, and piezoelectric properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) data shows that La2O3 diffuses into the lattice of BNBT6 ceramics and forms pure perovskite phase. SEM images indicate that a small amount of La2O3 addition affects the microstructure. The temperature dependence of the dielectric constant shows that Curie point decreases with the addition of La2O3. The piezoelectric properties of La2O3-doped BNBT6 ceramics have been improved by a certain amount of La2O3 addition. At the synthesized temperature of 1150℃, d33 of BNBT6 ceramics is 165pC/N and the tanδ is 0.056, which indicates that La2O3 -doped sample is of high piezoelectric properties and low dissipation factor.
