计算机双目成像是一种基于人眼原理,由两幅视差图像获取信息,并转化为物体三维信息的方法。随着机器视觉理论的发展,双目立体视觉技术在地形勘测、自主导航、人机互动等运用中发挥着越来越重要的作用。而这些方面的应用需求,也对于双目立体视觉系统的实现有了更多的要求。低功耗、小体积的双目立体视觉系统成了目前这类系统发展的趋势。近年来,随着FPGA技术的飞速发展,单片FPGA上除了集成更多的逻辑单元之外,也集成了嵌入式处理器、数字信号处理模块等专用单元。同时,数字辅助设计软件的功能不断强大,也使得在FPGA上实现图像处理和计算机视觉算法的方案逐渐取代专用数字处理芯片成为一种更优化的选择。最近,随着可编程片上系统这一设计理念的普及,在FPGA上进行软硬件协同设计无疑成为了搭建低功耗、小体积、高效率的视觉系统的最优方案之一。 本文着重讨论双目立体匹配算法以及在FPGA中的实现。通过基于Xilinx FPGA平台与自主设计的双CMOS摄像头VMODCAM搭建的双目视觉硬件系统,完成了初步硬件实现。

Binocular stereo vision on computer is based on the mechanism of human eyes. It obtains information from the stereo image pairs and gets the three-dimensional information of the object. With the development of machine vision, binocular stereo vision technology now play a more and more important role in many areas such as terrain mapping, autonomous navigation system and human-computer interaction. These applications catalyze more requirements on the size, the power consumption and the speed of the new generation of stereo vision system. And the implementation of a smaller and more power-saving stereo vision system was no doubt a trend in this area. In recent years, due to the technological advance in the development of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), a single FPGA can now integrated components more than just programmable logics. Embedded processors, digital signal processing (DSP) module, and other specified design unit, can also be seen on FPGA chips now. Meanwhile, as the Electronic Design Automation (EDA) Tools for FPGA design gradually mature, it is also possible that FPGA could be utilized to realize image processing and computer vision algorithms. With higher parallelism and pipeline in computation, solutions on FPGA are no doubt a more optimal choice than those on traditional digital signal processors (DSPs). Moreover, with the widespread of System on a Programmable Chip (SoPC) design, the hardware and software co-design on FPGA will undoubtedly be a good solution for a stereo vision system with smaller size, higher efficiency and lower power consumption.
