有序ZrO2(111)薄膜在Pt(111)表面的外延生长
Epitaxial growth of ultrathin ZrO2(111) films on Pt(111)
利用低能电子衍射(LEED)、同步辐射光发射谱(SRPES)和X射线光电子能谱(XPS)技术研究有序ZrO2薄膜在Pt(111)单晶表面的外延生长。薄膜的制备是通过在氧气氛围下在Pt(111)表面上热蒸发金属Zr 并随后对薄膜表面进行退火完成的。实验结果表明:薄膜的生长在初始阶段呈现不连续低维岛状的有序生长,并且岛的尺寸和结构依赖于ZrO2薄膜厚度。在低覆盖度情况下(θ < 0.5 ML), (√19x√19)R23.4˚和(5×5)两种结构并存。随着薄膜覆盖度增加, (√19x√19)R23.4˚结构的长程有序度逐步增加,同时(5×5)结构逐步消失。当薄膜覆盖度达到6单层(ML)以上时,连续结构的ZrO2(111)薄膜形成,表面呈现出ZrO2(111)-(1x1)和(2x2)共存的LEED衍射花样。用这种方法制得的有序ZrO2薄膜为体相ZrO2提供了一个很好的模型表面,可进一步利用表面科学研究手段研究ZrO2表面的各种性质。
Ordered ZrO2 films were epitaxially grown on Pt(111) and characterized by low energy electron diffraction (LEED), synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy (SRPES) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The films are prepared by oxidizing the physical vapor-deposited zirconium in an O2 atmosphere followed by annealing. The films grow as discontinuous low-dimensional islands with ordered structures at low coverage. The sizes and structures of the islands are dependent on the coverage of ZrO2 films. At coverage lower than 0.5 ML (monolayer), (√19x√19)R23.4˚ and (5×5) structures coexist. With increasing coverage, the (√19x√19)R23.4˚ structure develops with increasing degree of long-range order, while the (5×5) structure fades gradually. When the coverage reaches above 6 ML, a continuous ZrO2(111) film is formed whose surface exhibits a (1x1) LEED pattern coexisting with a (2x2) pattern. These well-ordered thin ZrO2 films provide good model surfaces for bulk ZrO2 and can be used to further study the catalytic properties of ZrO2 using modern surface science techniques.
