his paper presented a novel method using a spherical grinding wheel to grind rake face of a ball - end mill. The new method utilized the self - adaptation of a sphere to decrease the number of simultaneous cooperative axes of CNC grinder. In addition, the configuration of CNC tool grinder and the method to calculate the CL were proposed. By means of 3D simulation based on AutoCAD, rake face grinding for a taper ball - end mill was given to verify the feasibility and availability of the new method.
