利用腔共振效应提高非线性介质内光脉冲的相对延迟

Relative Delay Enhancement of Light Pulse Propagating in a Nonlinear Medium Based on Cavity Resonance Effect

本文在横向相位调制理论的基础上,给出了非紧聚焦的小调制度正弦光强调制的基横模高斯光束在通过置于较薄的共振法-珀腔内的非线性介质之后的相对延迟和相应的群速度的解析表达式,并以红宝石晶体为例研究了信号光脉冲的相对延迟量与各种实验条件之间的关系。研究表明,在介质吸收系数较小的情况下,共振法-珀腔的引入可以有效地提高光脉冲的相对延迟,相对延迟量提高的倍数与腔镜的反射率相关。对于红宝石晶体的情况,腔镜光强反射率为0.79时可以实现最大的相对延迟,相对延迟量是无共振腔时的2.2倍。

Based on the transverse-phase modulation effect, we derived the analytical expressions of the relative delay and the group velocity of a sinusoidally modulated fundamental-mode Gaussian beam passing through a nonlinear medium within a thin resonant Fabry-Perot cavity. As an exemple, the dependences of the relative delay of the signal pulses transmitted through a ruby crystal on different parameters were disscussed. When the absorption coefficient of nonlinear medium is relatively small, the improvement of the relative delay, which is influenced by the cavity-mirror reflectivity, can be achieved by introducing an appropriate resonant cavity. For the case of ruby, the maximum relative delay increases 2.2 times when the cavity-mirror reflectivity is 0.79.
