his paper firstly introduces the theory of wavelet packet and the algorithm of wavelet packet. Because of its good time-frequency characteristics, it is widely used in signal processing. The paper gives two specific examples to validate the applications of the wavelet packet transform in signal processing. The first one is that wavelet packet is used for signal de-noising, it can be seen from the results that in the signal de-noising the wavelet packet transform can effectively suppress the noise components and response the basic characteristics of the signal. In addition, the wavelet packet transform also has a wide range of applications in the detection of load fluctuations.
