his paper puts forward the piecewise extrapolation method, and makes it applied to study the shape and the loads of the anchor chain system in both with horizontal chain and none horizontal chain. The flowchart of the calculation programme is founded. Assuming the anchor chain in calm water is even and non-retractile, the results obtained by the piecewise extrapolation method are compared with the existed catenary’s theory and the agreement is good. Furthermore force condition of the chain is calculated when the fluid velocity is assumed to vary as steady flow of different magnitude, parabola, and logarithm respectively.
