系统级芯片输入输出元件I/O的SSN控制

SSN control for I/Os on SoCs

随着IC芯片集成度的提高,目前的系统级芯片(SoC)功能的日趋强大,随之芯片上的输入输出元件I/O的数量也越来越多,产生了许多新的电气问题,其中就包括I/O的SSN(Simultaneous Switching Noise)问题,对SSN的控制变得重要且必须。本文结合实际SoC设计,分析了对SSN有重要影响的I/O元件参数、特性以及系统因素,并针对较先进的65nm工艺技术, 通过实验给出了一套用以满足的SSN指标的设计流程,提出了全局性的SSN设计建议,希望能够给从事相关工作的工程师带来帮助。

With the higher integrity of IC technology, SoCs are becoming more powerful with different functions. So more and more I/Os are needed on chip which introduces many new electrical issues, including SSN. Thus it is important and a must to control SSN. In this paper, we analyze the parameters and characters of I/Os and also system factors which could impact SSN. We do an experiment based on a real SoC design with 65nm manufacturing technology. In addition, we give a detail design flow which could be used to prevent the SSN issue. We also give some ideas about the global architecture to design SoCs without SSN issue in early design stage.
