he propagation of a rotating detonation in a hydrogen-air mixture is investigated numerically by solving the three-dimensional Euler equations with detailed finite-rate chemistry modeled with a 9-species, 19-step reaction mechanism. The numerical method used is based on a second-order spatially wave propagation algorithm and a two-step Runge-Kutta time marching algorithm. The calculated streak picture is in qualitative agreement with the picture recorded by a high speed streak camera. The three dimensional flowfields induced by a continuously rotating detonation are visualized and the distinctive features of the rotating detonations are clearly depicted. The detonation wavelet connected with oblique shock waves keeps rotating in the layer of the combustible mixture located in the corner consisted by the head wall and the inner wall. Simultaneously, the lateral rarefaction waves from the air and the previous detonation product lead to the detonation deficit.
