GPU Accelerated Raycasting Algorithm for Volume Visualization

基于GPU 实现了Raycasting体可视化算法。通过采用FBO离屏绘制等技术预处理光线投射的入点和出点减少了纹理采样次数,采用纹理数据和颜色转化函数分离表达方法有效节省了显存空间。实验结果表明,本文算法在有效节省显存空间的情况下取得了和传统基于切片的三维纹理映射算法相近的效率,可用于较大规模体数据绘制,减少数据调度时间损耗。

Raycasting algorithm for volume visualization was implemented based on GPU. FBO (FrameBuffer Object) offscreen rendering technology was adopted to preprocess the raycasting sample poins in/out of the volume space to reduce the sampling frequency. The strategy of separating 3D texture and color transfer function was used to decrease the video memory. The experiment result shows that the proposed algorithm has nearly the same performance as traditional 3-D texture mapping algorithm under the less video memory capacity, and the method could be used in large scale volume rendering to reduce the load time of data Scheduling.
