his paper propose a novel scheme that increases the range and throughput in High Frequency (HF) communications using physical layer node cooperation. By exploiting multiple (and sufficiently spatial separated) power-constrained portable radios in a collaborative structure, it will be possible to obtain diversity gains similar to Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems and therefore, to maximize link reliability, to increase communication range for a given throughput and power or, to increase throughput for a given range and power. This scheme is based on randomized space-time block coding (STBC) in the framework of distributed cooperative networks. In this paper, a short block Time-Reversal Space-Time Block Coding scheme (TR-STBC) combined with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is presented to eliminate the doubly-selective fading of HF channel and, furthermore is compared though simulation to show the best performance among the three schemes we present. It's also observed that the diversity can be obtained by increasing the number of nodes. The proposed architecture will provide diversity gains that will improve the reliability of HF transmission with limited supporting infrastructure.
