Radiation effects in SYNROC for the immobilization of high-level nuclear waste

With a large number of applications of nuclear energy, the high-level radioactive waste disposal to isolate the bio-environment, non-proliferation and security concerns is the most challenges we must meet. In order to permanently dispose of the high-level radioactive waste, most of them need to meet with chemical processing, reprocessing and being converted into a solidified wasteform which is to be buried within the earth. In order to evaluate the performance of HLW in storage room, its long-term effects of radiation is the determining factor. This paper reviews the radiation damage of SYNROC receving α, β, γ decay events, as well as the actinide doping and radiation experiments using energy particle.
